Hospitals

The hospitals listed below provide 24 hour medical services on a walk-in basis.  Cost of service varies depending on the medical care provided.  English and Spanish languages are usually available.  Please bear in mind the following information before you come to the Emergency Room:

  • - Priority of care is based on the seriousness of the emergency or injury, NOT first-come first-serve basis
    - Typically, no more than 2 visitors may be allowed in treatment area
    - Children may or may not be allowed in the treatment area
    - Wait time and treatment may range from minutes to hours.  Books and toys should be brought to keep children occupied
    - If possible bring insurance information, medical records, a list of current medications, and any advance directives

The typical emergency room can provide services for things such as fractures, sprains, and illnesses.  Larger emergency departments may be able to treat more serious injuries depending on their facility.  However if injuries are too severe or extensive, such as a gunshot wound or multiple trauma, patients may be transferred to a designated trauma facility.  In such serious cases, patients may be brought to any emergency room where they are initially stabilized.  If that emergency room is unable to further treat the patient after stabilization, the emergency room will then send the patient over to a larger trauma center for treatment and care.  Such trauma facilities will have a special trauma level distinction listed below with Level I providing the most comprehensive care available.  A Level II trauma center is similar to a Level I but may not have the research aspect or a certain medical specialty readily available.  Please note that being designated a “trauma” facility is voluntary.  A hospital may still provide comprehensive care without the “trauma” designation.
